Terms of use
These terms are a contract between you and Uptrail ("we", "us") covering your use of the Margot app and service. By creating an account or using Margot, you agree to them.
1. Margot is an AI
Margot is an artificial-intelligence practice coach. She is not a real person, and the app will never tell you otherwise — she says so out loud at the start of every call. Margot is for rehearsing conversations and entertainment — she is not a therapist, doctor, lawyer, matchmaker, or emergency service, and nothing she says is professional advice. AI-generated responses and scores can be wrong, inconsistent, or incomplete, and are no guarantee of any real-world outcome. If you're in crisis, contact a real human via our support resources or your local emergency number.
2. Who can use Margot
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live). By using Margot you confirm that you are. You may hold one account, created through Sign in with Apple. Margot's scenes depict adult dating situations and are intended for a mature audience.
3. Practice phone calls
- Margot places real phone calls only to the number you have verified as your own. You may only verify a number you own and are authorized to receive calls on, and you consent to receiving the practice calls you request.
- Practice calls are roleplay between you and the AI. You agree not to use them to deceive, record, or impersonate any real person.
- Standard carrier charges, if any under your phone plan, are your responsibility.
4. Subscriptions and billing
- Margot is free to download. Each new account gets one free three-minute intro practice call, plus a daily allowance of text practice and rizz lines at no charge.
- Weekly ($6.99/week) includes 20 practice minutes per week. Monthly ($19.99/month) includes 80 practice minutes per month. Prices are in USD and may vary by region. Generous daily fair-use limits apply to text features.
- Subscriptions are billed through your Apple account and auto-renew (weekly or monthly, per the plan you choose) until canceled. Cancel any time in your App Store subscription settings at least 24 hours before the renewal date; you keep access until the end of the paid period.
- Unused practice minutes do not roll over.
- Payments, refunds, and billing disputes are handled by Apple under their terms. Use of the app is also governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA).
5. Acceptable use
Don't use Margot to break the law, harass or harm anyone, or attempt to harm the service. Specifically, you agree not to:
- use the service for any unlawful purpose, or to generate content that is illegal where you live;
- verify or attempt to verify a phone number that isn't yours, or use Margot to place calls to any person other than yourself;
- use the coaching to manipulate, deceive, or harm other people;
- probe, overload, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the service, or attempt to extract its underlying models or prompts;
- resell, scrape, or automate access to the service;
- misrepresent Margot's output as a human's statements.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practical.
6. Your content
You own what you write and say. You grant us the limited license needed to process your messages and call transcripts to operate the service — generating responses, scorecards, and drills — as described in our privacy policy. Scorecards and other generated content are for your personal use.
7. Disclaimers
Margot is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, that any particular call will connect, or that practice will produce any particular dating result. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded — including any statutory guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
9. Ending things
You can stop using Margot and delete your account at any time in the app (You tab → Delete account); deletion removes your data as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or terminate the service or your account for breach of these terms, or discontinue the service with reasonable notice.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the effective date above will change and material updates will be flagged in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Margot after changes take effect means you accept them.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and disputes are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts — without limiting any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
